Traeger Ham and Cheese Pinwheels

These Ham and Cheese Pinwheels are a delicious and easy appetizer or snack, perfect for any occasion. Made with savory ham, rich cheddar cheese, and whole-grain mustard rolled in puff pastry, they are baked on the Traeger until golden brown and perfect.

Traeger Ham and Cheese Pinwheels

Ham and Cheese Pinwheels are not only tasty but also incredibly simple too. They can be served as a party appetizer, a snack for family gatherings, or even as a quick lunch option. The use of puff pastry provides a flaky and buttery texture, while the combination of ham and cheddar cheese offers a classic flavor that is loved by many. The whole-grain mustard adds a subtle sharpness and depth, enhancing the overall taste. Preparing them in a Traeger grill infuses some wood-fired flavor, setting these pinwheels apart from those cooked in a traditional oven.

Cooking Methods

The process involves rolling out puff pastry sheets, spreading whole-grain mustard ove the top, and then layering ham and cheese on top on the mustard. After rolling them into a log, they are sliced into pinwheels and baked in the Traeger grill. Initially, they are cooked for 15 minutes, then brushed with an egg wash for a golden finish and baked for an additional 5-10 minutes. The egg wash gives the pinwheels a beautiful, glossy appearance and helps achieve that irresistible golden-brown crust.

These pinwheels are highly adaptable. You can experiment with different types of cheese, such as Swiss or Gouda, or add ingredients like spinach or caramelized onions for extra flavor. You can use Canadian Bacon if you want something a little different, and adjusting the type of mustard can also alter the flavor profile, with options like Dijon or honey mustard offering different tastes.
