Healthy Cookbooks

Obviously, I love cooking — so it’s no coincidence that I also LOVE cookbooks.

I have developed quite the collection of cookbooks over the years and wanted to share some of my favorite healthy cookbooks in case and of you needed some inspiration in the kitchen.

These cookbooks are all fantastic to re-create traditional meals into healthy masterpieces, and also to find new, unique meal combinations as well.

There are cookbooks for everyone on this list — whether you are vegan, Paleo, or just want to clean up your diet a little bit.

Take a look at a few of my favorites and let me know if you have any recommendations in the comments below! I always love checking out new cookbooks!

The Skinnytaste Cookbook by Gina Homolka –  I have loved Gina’s blog for a long time, and get a lot of inspiration from her recipes — so, naturally, I love her cookbook too! It’s filled with lightened up options, and each recipe includes all of the nutritional information. She also has another cookbook coming out soon that I have already pre-ordered, called Skinnytaste Fast & Slow with lots of easy and quick recipes, as well as lots of slow-cooker recipes!

The Healthy Slow Cooker Cookbook – I am probably one of the BIGGEST slow cooker fans out there. It’s so easy to just throw some ingredients into the pot and let it cook away all day. This cookbook is FILLED with 150 amazing recipes and ideas to make in your slow cooker that are not only healthy, but tasty too! This is a MUST HAVE for all you busy ladies out there!

Lexi’s Clean Kitchen by Alexa Kornblum Davidson – So, this is on my wishlist because it actually hasn’t been released just yet, but I have loved reading Lexi’s blog for so long — so I KNOW this will be an amazing cookbook once it’s out. I plan on pre-ordering it soon, so that I can get my hands on it as soon as it hits stands! 😉

Thug Kitchen – This is just a FUN cookbook! Yes, it’s a bit vulgar — but once you get past it, it’s actually quite funny. This cookbook is all plant-based and vegan, but you wouldn’t really remember that once you look through the pages. Everything is fairly simple to make and not too many crazy ingredients — but TONS of remakes of not-so-healthy meals like ramen noodles! (They also have a fantastic cookbook for party foods called Thug Kitchen Party Grub…definitely on my wishlist!!)

The Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen – There are over — wait for it — 650 (<— YES 650!) recipes in this book that are perfect for small families or those of you that live alone. They take all the guess work out of scaling recipes down with cooking times and what dishes to use. Nik and I love using recipes from here when the other is away, and we don’t want a ton of leftovers!

Inspiralized by Ali Maffucci – You also probably know how much I love my spiralizer! It’s the best way to eat your veggies AND still enjoy some “pasta”! This gorgeous cookbook includes all things spiralized. It’s filled with amazing vegan, paleo, and gluten-free options. There are a lot of remakes of things like traditional Bolognese or Thai Drunken Noodles. If you are just getting into your spiralizer or you want some more unique ideas on how to use it, THIS cookbook is your go-to!

The Love and Lemons Cookbook by Jeanine Donofrio – This cookbook is from another popular blogger as well. The Love and Lemons cookbook is a mostly plant-based cookbook that focuses on using seasonal produce to create mouthwatering meals. What’s really fun is that each chapter is organized by produce from A-Z, meaning you will never have to think about what to make with in season produce. Everything from apples-to-zucchini is covered!

Cravings by Chrissy Teigen – This cookbook has just the perfect balance of indulgent and everyday recipes that are super easy to prepare. It features recipes like mac and cheese, fried chicken, and a lot of traditional Thai recipes that swimsuit model, Chrissy, grew up eating — and I do LOVE me some Thai food! I will say this is probably the LEAST healthiest on the list — but we all have to indulge sometimes! However, there IS a whole section of salads too, thought! 😉

Against All Grain by Danielle Walker – So, even though I myself am not Paleo, I still love creating and eating Paleo options (I don’t personally have any issues digesting grains or gluten, but I know many of you do!), so this cookbook is amazing for tons of Paleo inspiration. Sometimes you may think Paleo is all about meat, but with recipes like grain-free chips and salsa, blueberry waffles, and hamburger buns, you’ll find TONS of grain-free alternatives that are super tasty!

Weeknight Fresh and Fast by Kristine Kidd – This is another great cookbook for those of you with busy lives! Most of the recipes will use ingredients that you most likely already have, and won’t have you searching the grocery store forever. There are quick and healthy recipes for seafood, poultry, meat, and vegetarian options. It’s perfect for all you busy working mama’s out there, too!
